Frequently asked questions
How accurate is IPO GMP?
We compare the GMP on the eve of listing with the actual listing price for every IPO; the figures appear here as listings come in.
Which GMP is compared here?
The last grey market premium recorded before the listing-day pre-open session (9:15 AM IST). It is the median of the public GMP trackers we follow, checked every 15 minutes.
Why does the listing price differ from GMP?
GMP is an informal, unregulated over-the-counter quote. It reflects a small group of traders and can swing with market mood, the last day of subscription and news. The real listing price is set by the exchange pre-open auction on listing day.
What is the listing gain?
The percentage difference between the listing price (the price discovered in the pre-open session on listing day) and the issue price. It is not the closing price of the day.
